NT Road Trip 2015: Part 20

Kalkarindji -- Birds of the Nectar Flow

The eucalyptus trees at Kalkarindji were in full flower and the nectar must have been flowing furiously judging by the big numbers of honeyeaters around. As well there were other birds, not usually associated with using nectar as a nutritional source, such as woodswallows.

Masses of flowers.
Varied Lorikeet Psitteuteles versicolor feasting.
Jacky Winter Microeca fascinans
Yellow-tinted Honeyeater
Lichenostomus flavescens
resting between feeds.
Peaceful Doves Geopelia striata watching the frenzy.
Black-faced Woodswallow Artamus cinereus
Black-chinned Honeyeater
Melithreptus glares laetior
